New apartment shielded against phone towers
New apartments buildings or apartments, lend themselves very well to a radiation-free building approach and often need it. The concrete structure is somewhat of a bonus when it comes to reducing EMF radiation as the concrete has a lot of mass which makes it harder for radio frequency radiation (RF) to penetrate. It still does though and as apartments tend to have a good view (of phone towers in your area…) the RF levels are often still of concern and should be shielded against. In this video we show how to put grounding tape on shielding paint and make it ready for the electrician to connect to ground.

Great lesson on grounding tape application on old video footage
It was back in 2015 when I was approached to consult on the radiation-free building / upgrading of an apartment and the penthouse of this new apartment building. The new owners had researched the dangers of EMF radiation in-depth and wanted to make their new homes turn out more health supportive.
When it came to implementing the T98 shielding paint, the new homeowners of the apartment applied the shielding paint in their new apartment themselves instead of their builder’s trades people. It was a mature couple enjoying their retirement and they had no issues applying the T98 shielding paint.
As the penthouse was a bigger project, I made a support visit to give them some confidence about how they were applying the shielding paint and I offered to apply the grounding tape with them.
In this video (old footage we still had) you get a small insight in the project and you see me explain how to apply the grounding tape on shielding paint for one of the bedrooms. I also explain in great detail how to get ready for the connection of the grounding tape to ground/earth.

How to apply grounding tape on shielding paint?
Grounding tape should be encased in the shielding paint (stuck onto it and painted over with it) so it has good contact. You remove the film on the back and press the grounding tape on the shielding paint on walls and ceiling. Be careful not to pull the grounding tape as you apply it. Your pressure should be onto the wall only.
Where to put grounding tape on shielding paint?
The shielding paint is conductive, but you can’t rely on connecting just the paint to ground/earth. You need something more substantial that is grounded for the panel of shielding paint to be connected to. That is what you use grounding tape for. Buildings do also move and hairline fractures happen in the shielding paint. By routing grounding tape on the shielding paint around the room and up onto the ceiling panel you ensure each panel has good contact.

Every room is different and you have to use your creativity. As a general guide, the tape tends to go around the room just above the skirting boards and travels up along one wall, to and over one side of the ceiling panel. I normally pick a corner behind the entrance door to be the corner where the grounding tape goes up towards the ceiling. Once on the ceiling, one side will do. You don’t need to route the grounding tape around the ceiling panel.
Mind the cornices when you are putting grounding tape on shielding paint to go to the ceiling panel. If you have pretty corner decorations between wall and ceiling, you might not be able to place your ‘upwards travelling’ grounding tape too deep into the corners between the walls. Once it gets to the ceiling it needs to cross your cornices nicely.

How to connect grounding tape to ground/earth?
Don’t buy/use a grounding plate. We think this is an unnecessary money grab. You don’t need it, save your money for something else (Invest it in quality shielding paint!). Grounding tape on shielding tape can simply be led into the opening of the power outlet, and then connected to ground there by a licensed electrician as grounding always should. Grounding tape enables your shielding paint to protect you from electric fields which is a nice bonus, but it is also a safety feature. For this reason you need an electrician to connect the grounding tape and check that it is working. Connecting something is not difficult, but verifying that ground/earth is actually present needs a professional.
What tape to use as grounding tape for shielding paint?

We use a metal tape, not one from metal fibres, otherwise you may have problems with the tape bubbling up away from the wall and this looks very ordinary. Be careful not to use metal tape that was not designed for application with shielding paint or you have a good chance that the adhesive is not electrically conductive. This is why you’re better of using that works and use GEOVITAL grounding tape. It has this adhesive but also the metal tape has been brushed so the shielding paint adheres to it well.
Find grounding tape in the shop under the shielding category.
